Keraben Grupo will work on the development of ceramic tiles capable of inactivating virus, such as COVID-19, within the VIRUCER Project

The paramount importance of hygiene and disinfection for our health has been highlighted by the current COVID-19 virus pandemic. It is for this reason that KERABEN GRUPO has joined efforts with another two partners in the R&D project VIRUCER, which will work on the development of ceramic tiles capable of inactivating virus. In order to achieve an efficient solution to this problem, different ceramic coatings will be tested by KERABEN GRUPO for their virucidal properties.

Investigations the world over are racing to combat COVID-19 virus’ effects and KERABEN GRUPO plays also a part in this global effort, collaborating in the development of a reliable solution to prevent viruses spreading on ceramic surfaces. The aim is to create hygienic ceramic tiles, covering indoor and outdoor applications, with the capability to permanently disinfect surfaces and hence environments, thus helping to protect people against the threats posed by viruses.

Using different methods and biocidal agents, KERABEN GRUPO will focus its efforts on the VIRUCER project by researching the best way to integrate virucidal properties on the ceramic coating’s structure itself.

KERABEN GRUPO participates in the VIRUCER Project in cooperation with the Instituto de Tecnología Cerámica (ITC-AICE) and the company COLOROBBIA ESPAÑA. The project is funded by the Agencia Valenciana de Innovación (AVI) and the European Union within the Programa Operativo del Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER) from Comunitat Valenciana 2014-2020.
